Yuri
Nikulin was born in a small town Demidov (Smolensky region,
not far from Moscow). In 1925 his family moved to Moscow,
where his father wrote for circus and show business. After
school in 1939 Yuri was taken in army, where stayed till 1946
and took part in two wars (Finland one and The Second World
War). After returning to Moscow, he tried enter several cinema
schools, but didn't pass. So Yuri decided to become a clown.
Firstly, he worked with a famous clown Karandash (Pencil),
then found a partner and reached the highest level of the
world popularity. |

Later Nikulin has become the director of the
circus. Yuri
Nikulin appeared in movie in "The girl with guitar",
where he played a small role. The directors have noticed the
bright comic gift of actor and started to invite him in their
projects. Leonid Gaidai created a famous comic trio (Booby,
Coward and Experienced), which went through several his
movies. Nikulin was Experienced. These characters entered even
cartoons and funny stories (anecdotes), so popular they
were. Perhaps, none could say that soon Nikulin would play the
best part in Leo Kulidjanov movie "When the trees were
big". The clown changed into a tragical actor.
Yuri Nikulin worked with the most famous Soviet film directors: A.
Tarkovsky, A. German, S. Bondarchuk, E. Ryazanov, R. Bykov.
Every his character was touching and true. People felt his
inner kindness and paid with their limitless love. During his
last years Nikulin worked on TV in a humor program about
anecdotes, which were one of his hobbies. He wrote books,
ruled the circus, helped everyone he could to.

Y and Shurik's Other Adventures”

This eccentric comedy directed by Leonid Gaidai includes
3 novellas united by the main
character, cranky Shurik, who often finds himself in the
most incredible situations. In
“Partner” he is rehabilitating a hooligan Bully,
serving his 15-day administrative sentence, in
“Strange Impression”, entranced, he is preparing to
take an exam and passes it successfully, in “Operation
Y” he is saving a warehouse, which has already been
robbed by its director, from being broken in by Booby,
Coward and Experienced.

The exocentric comedy about a modest Russian worker who
starts a heroic combat against the gang of smugglers. The
given film remains one of the most favorite films among the
public for more than a quarter of the century. An enchanting
cascade of tricks, jokes and witty remarks, musical items
performed by the brilliant comedy actors invariably “infect”
any audience with laughter.

sportswoman, a beauty etc) and takes part in her kidnapping
but then he participates in her discharge…It is one of the
most popular films of the national cinematography.

“To me,
Muhtar!”

film is about a mutual devotion of a militia lieutenant and
sheep-dog Muhtar. A selfless dog that is ready to pay his

situations their difficult service makes them face almost
every day.
