A group of young girls, anti-craft gunners, has to start unequial fighting against the enemy-paratroopers in the front-line area. These girls used to dream of great love, tenderness and family comfort but a severe war fell to their lot and they fulfilled their soldier’s duty completely… Prizes of IFF (International Film Festival) in Venice (1972) and AUFF (All-Union Film Festival) in Alma-Ata (1973). The best film of 1972 due to the poll of “Sovietsky Ekran” (“The Soviet Screen”) magazine.

Afonya

Director: Georgi Daneliya. Starring: Leonid Kuravlyov, Evgeniya Simonova, Evgeny Leonov, Borislav Brondukov, Valentina Talizina, Nina Ruslanova, Savely Kramarov et al. Afonya, a plumber, lived gaily and carelessly. Not disdaining easy money, he liked drinking and paying court to the girls. So a day after day came and went but once… The film of Georgy Daneliya, the acknowledged comedy master, tells the audience what has happened to Afonya.

Directors: Nickolai Lebedev, Ernest Yasan. Starring: Nadezhda Gorshkova, Vladimir Shevelkov, and Liubov Polischuk. A melodrama. He was at the age of four. He fell in love with her at first sight and forever. At the age of fifteen he got to know the sense of treachery: she fell in love with the boy in spectacles with nothing special about him. And then he made up his mind to settle a score with his own life…

Gentlemen of Luck

Director: A. Seriy. Starring: Å. Leonov, G. Vitsin, S. Kramarov, N. Fateeva, E. Garin, A. Papanov et al. Head of a kindergarten Troshkin, an extremely kind-hearted man and the bandit having the nickname of “Dotsent” (Assisstant professor) turn out to be as like as two peas in a pod. “Dotsent” has managed to escape from the prison. Militia wants Troshkin to penetrate into the thieves’ environment, and he does his best playing the role of his double, a villain. As a result the comedy is extremely funny!

Autumn marathon

Director: G. Daneliya. Starring: O. Basilashvily, N. Gundareva, Ì. Neyolova, Å. Leonov, Volchek et al. It is a story of a clever, talented but weak-willed man. Andrei Buzikin can’t refuse anything to anybody, he is afraid of offending each. As a result he gets into difficult and funny situations now and then. The given film where joke is accompanied by sorrow and pain, tears are followed by smile won a lot of rewards at the film festivals.
