Margarita Terekhova was born in a small town in Sverdlovsky region (25.08.1942). From 1959 till 1961 she studied at the Tashkent university. Margarita decided to become an actress and after changing her course she moved to Moscow in 1964, where started to work in one of the theatres. She stared in a lot of classical plays. 

A. Tarkovsky was the first film director who noticed the charming attraction of this actress. Then

 

others began to use her icy image with hidden inner fire. None could forget that queen like woman with bewitching voice. Some people don't like Terekhova, considering her snob or even bitch, others adore every her work in movie and theatre, but none ignore her mystic gift.  

The Byelorussian Station

Director: A. Smirnov. Starring: A. Glazirin, Å. Leonov, A. Papanov, V. Safonov, N. Urgant, R. Kurkina, L. Sokolova, M. Terekhova, A. Yanvariov et al. The heroes of the film departed at the Byelorussian station in the summer of 1945. A quarter of the century later they meet at the funeral of their war friend. Everything they have gone through starts reviving with a new power
in their souls. Time is powerless over their memory: they have preserved faithfulness to their war friendship, ability to sacrifice themselves and incredible love of life. The film was awarded the Chief Prize at I Festival of modern cinematography in Karlovy Vary, 1971.

Monologue 

Director: Ilya Averbakh. Starring: Mikhail Gluzsky, Marina Neyolova, Margarita Terekhova, Stanislav Liubshin, Ernst Romanov. Professor Sretensky’s good-for-nothing daughter and his young granddaughter arrive to him. But he is an old man who leads a balanced way of life and has the absurd habits that are dear to his heart. The film is about love and intolerance of these people
to one another that results in the eternal conflicts. It is also about the ability to understand and apologize.

The Mirror 

Director: A. Tarkovsky. Starring: M. Terekhova, O. Yankovsky, A. Solonitsin, A. Demidova, N. Grinko, Y. Nazarov et al. The film is autobiographical in many aspects. It is a narration about the generation to whose lot there fell severe war years, a difficult post-war period and the time of the Stalin repressions. The film director devoted it to his mother who had to find great courage to bring up two children alone…Ì. Terekhova played mother and wife of the main character. The Prize of “David di Donatello” as the best foreign film demonstrated in Italy, 1980.
