Georgi Daneliya was born in Tbilisy(25.08.1930).
Later his family moved to
Moscow, where he graduated from the architecture
institute in 1955. But the
work in office seemed too boring and Georgi
decided to enter the High
school of film directors, which was graduated in
1959. The film "Seryozha"
(1960) was made together with I. Talankin. That
light, lyrical story about a small boy
opening the world with all good
and bad in it, touched many hearts. It got
the main prize in festival
in Carlovy Vary. Then appeared a lot of brilliant
works of this director,
almost every one was hit. Humor mixed with
melodrama and deep
psychological look could be noticed in every
Daneliya film. Besides,

The genre of a lyrical comedy is the one
where Georgi Daneliya’s talent was
displayed in its full glory. He began his
rise to the popularity heights with the film
“I am walking along Moscow”. The young
talented actors accompanied him on his way
to the summits of glory. Music by Andrei
Petrov... There is hardly a man who does not
know the song on Gennady Shpalikov’s words
that became a leit-motif of the given film
about good Moscow boys and girls of sixties,
their mutual aid, friendship and, of course,
love…The film was marked at the
cinematographic art contests in Italy,
Czechoslovakia and France.
