It's
hard to call me the big fan of detectives. Sure, I read them from
time to time but never considered something worth of attention.
There were two different world for me: the true literature and the
gum for brains, which was ok if you felt tired or lazy. The first
few pages of Boris Akunin book shocked me with incredible mix.
There was rich language of classical Russian literature, with deep
thoughts and emotions, but the same time actions crowded every
page of the book, making it so interesting that real life
disappeared. The popular author always arises a wave of articles
and whispers around himself. Akunin has been told much about last
years, may be even more than any other writer. His main character,
Erast Fandorin has been compared to famous Hercules Puaro and
James Bond. If he was just an artful copy of well-known persons so
even realistic details of Russian history wouldn't save these
books. Fortunately, the author has created absolutely
original type who being close to the image of ideal man still
stays realistic, doesn't irritate readers with his endless good
qualities. It's
possible to tell about Akunin's books and his his high level professionalism
as a historical writer, but with all my might I wouldn't say more
than his novels do. Just open one of his books and believe me...
soon you will run after the next one. Some doubts? Well, try and
see.
